Who We Are: Emerging Futures Network
In 2020 the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) funded a grant proposal for the Emerging Futures Network, setting in motion a multifaceted plan for a growing network of community organizations in Southern Oregon to develop and implement regenerative solutions through education, direct action, and civic engagement.
Our Mission: To engage and educate community members to implement regenerative principles and practices at the local level through solution-oriented projects.
Our Vision: Our network connects community members with projects and organizations, helping individuals participate in meaningful change and bringing us together to do what we cannot do alone.
Our guiding principles:
-Support intentional change
-Recognize and share community assets and best practices
-Facilitate collaborative local action, inclusion, and cooperation
-Generate understanding and respect across cultures
We believe in:
-The urgent priority of reducing atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations
-Local solutions and direct action
-Resilient, self-reliant, environmentally sustainable communities
-Balancing the rights of people with the rights of nature
-Acting with integrity, accountability, professionalism, and respect for each individual
-Personal and spiritual growth through climate action
What we do:
We aim to assist in the just transition to regenerative life and land management practices for the sake of building community resilience. By sharing news stories, connecting people to learning opportunities, providing space to share resources and tools, and keeping an up-to-date community calendar we hope to grow a culture of cooperation and encourage collaboration on local projects.
Our community directory is a resource to engage network participants in sharing their projects. As more local network partners get added to the directory, the collective power of our network will grow! The public can connect with inspiring causes, and individuals can better understand the best ways they can contribute on an individual level.
The community directory is a single, shared tool that connects people to resources, research, technology, tools, and assets for people to be able to create a resilient, just, and environmentally sound world.
